What is Somnomed?
Somnomed is a type of mandibular advancement splint which is an oral appliance designed and used as a treatment for sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnoea. Somnomed also helps with symptoms related to sleep apnoea like snoring, grinding of teeth (bruxism) and TMD pain. The Somnomed mandibular advancement splint is custom fitted by our dentists after careful assessment of your sleep apnoea condition. The device is designed to move the lower jaw slightly forward to help keep airways open thus preventing obstruction and other sleep apnoea symptoms.
Somnomed is a great alternative to CPAP machines especially for mild to moderate cases of sleep apnoea as it is less bulky and more comfortable to use.
